We already have a website. Why another menu URL?

Your site is the brand story. PlateDeck is the working list at the table — prices, 86’d dishes, and a QR that updates without a developer. Keep the site. Put this link on the counter, in the Instagram bio, and on Google if you want the live list there too.

Question 2

Do guests need to download an app?

Accepted Answer

No. They scan the QR and the menu opens in the phone browser they already have. You update it the same way. There is no guest app and no App Store step.

Question 3

Will this replace our domain or Google listing?

Accepted Answer

No. PlateDeck gives you a public URL you choose to share. We do not take over your domain or your Google Business Profile. You paste the link where it helps — or leave it on the QR only.

Question 4

What if AI import or translate misreads a dish?

AI import and translate are a first draft. You review names, prices, and wording in the builder, then publish. Guests only see the snapshot you publish.

Question 5

Is this a POS? Can guests pay in the menu?

Accepted Answer

It is not a POS. On Plus, Pro, and Ultimate you can take orders: guests add dishes for pickup or dine-in, pay at the counter, and watch status on their phone. The kitchen starts after you mark the ticket paid. Reports cover those paid tickets — take, top dishes, rush hours, walkaways — not a bank deposit. Paying in the menu is coming soon.

Can we take dine-in from the same menu?

Yes. On Plus, Pro, and Ultimate guests choose pickup or dine-in on the same QR ticket, optionally add a table, and you run those tickets in Orders. Guests paying in the menu are coming soon — same list, same browser, no extra app.

Question 7

Can lunch and dinner share one QR?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Split the list into categories (lunch, dinner, drinks, late night). Guests open one link and move between sections. You are not maintaining two sites.

What do people see while we are still editing?

Accepted Answer

Drafts stay in the builder. The public URL and QR show the last published snapshot until you publish again. You can tidy a special at 10am without it appearing mid-brunch.

Question 9

We have more than one kitchen. Do we rebuild the menu each time?

Accepted Answer

Copy a menu to a new location, then change hours, address, and the dishes that differ. Keep one brand logo across the group, or give a stall its own mark.

When do dish photos show on the live menu?

Accepted Answer

Dish photos are on paid plans. Free is for drafting and preview. After you publish on Lite or above, photos you add (or that import can match) appear on the guest menu, TV, and print.

Will this look like every other QR menu?

Accepted Answer

You pick from twenty guest layouts — Bistro, Cafe, Wine bar, tasting courses, photo cards, and more — plus your own background. The goal is a list that fits the room, not a generic template dumped on the table.
